One of the most amazing rivers!
Nestled just east of the river Varzina on one of the most amazing rivers of the Russia’s Kola Peninsula, this tented camp offers everything fisherman needs after a productive day on the river, from excellent accommodation in well-equipped heated tents with wooden floor to outstanding Russian cuisine and warm hospitality of camp staff.
Big salmon and trout
In contrast to the other northern rivers of Russia’s Kola Peninsula, here is the river valley broad and lush with birch covered hills. Drozdovka is not a big river but it does produce very well. There are half a dozen named pools between the Lake Drozdovka and sea and twice that number up to the Lower Drozdovka Falls. The first section fishes well early in the season while the falls area comes to its prime later on.
In the Aquarium Pool below the falls many salmon can be seen restlessly waiting for their turn to ascend to the upper river. While salmon jump the Lower Falls easily, the Upper Falls stops the run completely. Even though there are some very big fish in the uppermost section, it is not fished very often. The bigger brown trout are also an attraction. While early in the season double-handed fly rods are recommended, from mid-July on single-handed rods provide the finest sport. In some places chest waders are necessary to reach the best areas.
